From Wikipedia:
[Sarah Palin] married her high school boyfriend, Todd Palin, on August 29, 1988.[6] The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 45 miles (72 km) north of Anchorage. The Palins have two sons (Track, 19, and Trig, four months) and three daughters (Bristol, 17; Willow, 14; and Piper, 7) [ages as of August 2008].[98] Todd Palin has said Track's name came from the interest Sarah's parents had in the sport and the fact that he was born in the sport's season; Bristol was named after Bristol Bay in Alaska, where Todd grew up and where he does commercial fishing; Willow was named after Willow, Alaska; Piper got her name because it is uncommon and "a cool name"; Trig's name is Norse for "strength".[99]

Here's a little LJ meme for you, based on how they chose names.

1)Your first-born will be named after your parents favorite sport:
-- baseball

2)Your second-born will be named after a nearby area that you're not from but you like the sound of part of the name, and maybe you have nostalgic memories of said place:
-- tahoe

3)Your third-born will be named after another nearby place, for no reason other than you already have two children and don't have time to put much thought into another name:
-- reno

4)Your fourth gets a "cool" name:
-- sephiroth

5)Your fifth gets something mythological, possibly straight out of Lord of the Rings:
-- inari

#1 and #2 are kinda meh. #3 is okay, i guess. #4, i got from a coworker. i agree with him, a kid named sephiroth would be awesome. and #5, well, it's the first that came to mind.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite songs.
2. Go find a lyric from each song. (or in some cases, just remember them.)
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it correctly and the name of the song.
5. NO GOOGLING/Wikiquote/search functions.

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

Who's there knocking at my window?
The owl and the Dead Boy
The night whispers my name
All the dying children

Virgin snow beneath my feet
Painting the world in white
I tread the way
And lose myself into a tale

Come hell or high water
My search will go on
Clayborn Voyage without an end

A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone, make my heavy heart light.
Come undone, bring me back to life

A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze.
Come someone, make my heavy heart light.
It all starts with a lullaby

Journey homeward bound
The sound of a dolphin calling
Tearing off the mask of man
The tower, my sole guide

This is who I am
Escapist, Paradise seeker
Farewell, now time to fly
Out of sight, out of time
Away from all lies

The nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze.

A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone, make my heavy heart light.
Come undone, bring me back to life

A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Come someone, make my heavy heart light.
It all starts with a lullaby

Don't Fuck With The Grocery Ninja!

so my walk to work was interrupted by this black guy who wanted to rob me. he stopped me in my tracks and told me to empty my pockets. i told him "no". i ran across the street, hoping to outrun him, but he caught up (i keep forgetting that black people run fast). so, he had me cornered, and continued to try and get me to empty my pockets, and give him whatever was in the grocery bag i was carrying (i had 4 frozen entrees and some sushi). he punched me in the face, and i proceeded to wail on him with the grocery bag. he knocked me down to the ground, and i pushed him away with my feet, aiming for his groin. i saw the gate to a nearby apartment complex open, and i ran in there as fast as i could, and got away from the guy.

the first thing i did was check to see if anything was missing. my headphones were broken - the wire broke in two. my DS was missing, ... and that was all i noticed at the time. i called into work, at first to attempt to get a ride from a coworker. failing that, i let them know i was going to be late. i then logged into my server from my phone, and arranged for a ride from a mutual friend of mine and Alynna's. when he got there, i searched the ground where the fight took place for my DS, and heard music playing (i was listening to MP3s on my DS), then found it by following the sound. he then drove to pick Alynna up, and took us to Quik Stop. i clocked in 45 minutes late.

after i got there, i filed a police report about the incident. not sure they're going to do anything about it, but hopefully they catch that guy.

Also, HIM's new album (Venus Doom) comes out today, and Digimon World: Dawn and Dusk come out. I plan on getting Venus Doom and Digimon World: Dusk. And I'm gonna enjoy them both. :)

Recharging

So, after eight years (or so), I finally got to go camping again. [info]alynna and I went to this Otherkin meet called Mythicalia. It was the best weekend I ever had in my entire life. The campground we went to was in Redwood City. I forget the name currently, but it was a really nice place, and I felt close to home there. (home, as in real home, and not scatramento. not the asphalt wasteland.)

On Friday night, I finally got to see a fox. This was the first time I actually saw one in real life, and I was really happy to have seen it. I have also managed, for the first time in months, to stay up for more than 24 hours. Of course, I crashed an hour later, after me and Alynna were trying to look for the fox, and waiting for it to return.

Saturday, we had a whole bunch of panels - one involving artwork, one about energy work in the forest, leaving offerings to the spirits out there, etc. One most notably being Alynna's panel about animal spirituality. She pretty much went over everything about it. After that, we went into the forest to acquire some energy, to recharge. Alynna had a nice long conversation with the forest, I spent most of the time listening and feeding off of the forest's energy. As an offering, we left some crumbs of a strawberry wafer, the next morning.

On Sunday afternoon, we went down to San Fransisco, and walked through the park, and visited a couple shops there. One awesome thing we saw in the park was a drinking fountain, for dogs. That was just amazing right there. At the music shop, we bought several CDs and DVDs, namely A Perfect Circle, Ayumi Hamasaki, and several movies - one of them being a DVD of Japanese Inuyasha episodes. After that, we went to Berkeley, and visited Shailai, whom had a bag full of shiny objects, one of which she gave to me, and I now have it on my desk, next to my phone charger.

This was quite an enjoyable weekend, and I still feel charged up. This beats any other event I had ever gone to. And I will go to it again next year.

Capital One Rickroll

Being sick and tired of Capital One badgering me for a payment, I decided to get revenge on them...

Collections Bitch calls me, tells me how much I am over, and asks to arrange a payment. Okay, I tell her I'll go through with that, tell her I'll pay $150, and make it for this coming Friday. When she asked me for my bank's routing number, I told her to hold on, and I held the phone to my computer speakers, and blasted Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" into the phone. She was like WTF, and quite possibly not too happy. Me and Alynna were laughing our asses off.

Next collections agent to call me will get the Numa Numa song. Just try me. >:)

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see.
As we loathe, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As we loathe, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in.
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out.
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

Spiral out. Keep going...

Don't Use FedEx

Unless you want your packages to get lost.

http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?submit_type=insightsurvey&tracknumbers=079442062142296&cntry_code=us&language=english&clienttype=ivother&

(For the record, this shipment was scheduled for April 4, 2007)

How they managed to get this package way the dickass down to Anaheim after it got here is beyond me. Also, I am curious about what happened between March 29 and April 3. Surely they didn't go directly from Hagerstown, MD to Sacramento, CA without stopping at a FedEx location.

Morons.
